The Eta Omega Chapter of Delta Sigma Phi at Johnson & Wales University has been in existence for over nineteen years now. As the first nationally recognized fraternity on campus, we Hammerheads pride ourselves on many aspects.
We work hard on areas such as community service, fund raising, and student involvement. At the same time we practice principles such as loyalty, chivalry, brotherhood, and academics. This “balancing act” is part of what being Hammerhead is all about.
Our recruitment has been ongoing since the beginning of the school year. Whether through our official recruitment events, community events, or just hanging out with us we work very hard to recruit good quailty men to join our brotherhood. There is no commitment or obligation to the Fraternity when you attend.
Pledging is the actual right of passage that you take in becoming a Hammerhead. When you are offered a bid to join the brotherhood, this means that the active Hammerheads of the Fraternity have decided that they would like to give you the chance to begin your right of passage.
Greek life is all of the Fraternities and Sororities recognized on JWU’s campus. It also includes all of the interaction between organizations like community service, social events, and much, much more.
Hazing is when a Fraternity or Sorority makes a pledge do something they do not want to do in order to continue their right of passage. This can be physical abuse, humiliation, or other things that are against a pledge's will. Along with being wrong and illegal, we believe that any average man can submit to hazing, but is challenged and becomes a better man through our pledge process. DELTA SIGMA PHI DOES NOT HAZE.
